Dallin's 3rd Birthday!

I can't believe that my little boy is turning into a big boy! We just celebrated Dallin's 3rd birthday. He saw Julia planning for her birthday party and decided that he should have a birthday party too. How could I deny such an enthusiastic 2 year old wanting a Diego themed birthday? It was all he could talk about for a couple of months. For the last month he would ask every day if today was his birthday and when I would say, "No, not yet." He would then say in a really cute disappointed voice, "Oh man." We actually had to pretend that his real birthday (which is only July 7th) wasn't his birthday because all of his friends were out of town. If he knew that it was really his birthday and his party wasn't on the same day, the poor kid would have been wrecked. We waited for a week to celebrate it and went all out. He had six of his little boy church buddies come to the park for a Diego birthday party. We had a jungle sticker scene for the kids to decorate, paper airplane throwing contest, a bubble blowing machine, and a animal rescue hunt along with pizza, cake and presents.
That night we went out to eat at a place called Corvette Diner which is a 50's diner that has dancing waitresses that throw straws and bubble gum, lots of fun music, lights and cool cars in it. In total amazement of the whole place, Dallin said to me, "Mommy, I like this place!" It was fun to see him feel so special that day. Everyone deserves a day like that once a year. Even though the day was a lot of work, it was worth every minute of it because of the joy that I got in making my little Dallin feel special on his birthday.
