Our little getaway!

The Cozy Oak! What a wonderful getaway Jared and I had! My parents had been given a week at a cute little beach house in Carmel and they offered the second half of the week to us. Jared and I knew that we had to take advantage of this because we hadn't been completely alone without the kids even before Dallin was born probably around 6 years ago! Plus with another one on the way in a couple of months - this opportunity will not come around for a while.
We are lucky enough to have wonderful friends that offered to take Julia and Dallin so we could take this trip and we handed off Ryan to my parents when we got to the beach house. Even though it was a lot of work getting out of town even for just a couple of days it was definitely worth it. Carmel is a really small quaint beach town where the houses have names instead of numbers for the address. It was not a super kid friendly place, but just perfect for a couple like us just trying to get a little rest and relaxation. The little cottage we stayed in was so cute with a small kitchen, a couple of rooms and a fireplace in the family room. Jared and I hardly knew what to do with ourselves with so much time and quietness and no nagging obligations or kids. We went on the famous 17 mile drive which was just breathtaking, walks on the beach, window shopping in the cute town, taking naps, eating out at fun little restaurants, going out to the movies and sitting by the fire at night with rain pattering outside - all the things we never get to do just the two of us! The beach was only a couple of blocks away and at night it sounded like it was right across the street because the waves were so loud! It was so nice to sleep in and not wake to an alarm clock, have some peace and quiet, and not have a schedule to dictate our days activities. It was so nice to be able to reconnect with my sweetheart and I can't thank everyone enough for helping make this getaway possible!
