We had another Saturday with Jared gone on another recruiting trip and my friend Melanie was in the same boat with her husband gone too. Her family had never been the the zoo before and I realized that with October being kids free month, and my free guest pass, we could bring them to the beautiful San Diego zoo with us. We had a wonderful time for the most part until Dallin decided to have a major melt down about not being able to see the bears. It was one of those experiences as a parent that you get to eat a whole lot of humble pie because your child does not care who is watching when they decide to throw a fit. I was just very grateful that Julia is old enough to be helpful and just followed me as fast as she could with the stroller so we could get out of the zoo as quickly as possible. Of course Dallin fell fast asleep as soon as we got into the car but it was sure ugly getting there with a screaming 5 year old and hundreds of people all around you! Oh the joys of motherhood!
